On average, wood contains about 50 percent elemental carbon by dry weight of wood. If the wood decays or burns, the solid carbon in the wood is released again to the atmosphere as CO2 gas. Provided the carbon is ‘‘locked-up’’ in a product, the carbon is ‘‘sequestered’’ as a solid and does not contribute to climate warming through the atmospheric greenhouse effect. By reclaiming, we can extend the useful life of the wood and “sequester” the CO2 gas producing carbon for an additional 20-50 years. In addition, no new trees were cut to produce the reclaimed product, and the carbon retained in storage in the reclaimed product is also being replaced by regrowth in a sustainably managed forest.

The look of reclaimed barn beams with the benefits of being a new timber. We are excited to introduce our new white oak hand-hewn timbers and skins. These are all hewed by hand ensuring the same technique used of past generations.
The white oak beams are naturally aged giving the them a weathered patina like the 100 year old beams everyone has grown to love.
However, these beams have no pockets and are a lot straighter making them an excellent choice for a variety of applications or projects. The strength of these white oak timbers is unmatched as well and you also have the added flexibility of how you position them.
We have a good inventory on our new white oak hand-hewn beams. In stock smaller sizes are 6×8, 8×8, & 8×10 with lengths ranging from 16′ to 24′, and the larger dimensions are 10×10, 10×12, 12×12, & 12×14 with lengths 16′ to 32′ on these larger sizes.
We can take custom orders and sizes which carry a 10 to 12 week lead time and different pricing. The patina can vary from a light brown to a weathered grey depending on their aging life. However, In most cases we have enough of these on hand to ensure your entire order of timbers has a similar patina.
We are excited about the possibilities with this new product line and look forward to working with you!
